Hi!
Thanks for visiting my blog.

This blog consists of my travel journals which I divide into 4 subjects:

Each subject is summarized  and put on a sticky post in this homepage. I put travel tips and some reference as well there. Meanwhile, each travel journal consists of its travel expense too which is (imo) the most essential info to look for when browsing for my next trip.

I also have another blog covering my experience staying in budget hotel or any type of accommodation which meet my budget of course, that is ” My Stay In Budget Hotel “. It’s just too much if I put them all here 🙂

Well, hope these journals would be useful for you!

Cheers.

TRIP JOURNAL

In general, Koh Samui is more populated and develop than Koh Phangan. It looks like a small capital city in an island. It has complete facilities. One thing I notice here is that it offers all kind of nite entertainment, especially for the guys ^^

Day 7 (part 2)  – Koh Phangan to Koh Samui

Ferry ride from Koh Phangan to Koh Samui takes about 30m. We landed in a harbor called Big Buddha. My friend and I planned to take minivan to Koh Samui. We read that it only costs 100 baht to Chaweng and it’s true. We found the minivan in the pier yard with the same fare. They put our luggage on the top f vehicle. It was a bit rainy that day so my backpack was a bit wet.

It took about 30min (I guess) to reach Chaweng. They drop us in the street to our hotel. We stayed at Samui Mandalay Hotel which is located just behind Ark Bar, a resort with a nice beach bar. Apparently the hotel management had just been taken over by Ark Bar so we could use Ark Bar pool. Nice!! It was not even check in time so we just dropped our bag in the reception deposit area then wandering around to find lunch.

TRIP JOURNAL

Day 9 (part 2)  and Day 10:  Koh Samui – Penang – back home

It was a rainy morning. The minivan was on time, 6 o’clock sharp. I shared it with other 6-7 passengers and 2 of them were friends I hangout with in Haad Rin and Koh Samui. After an hour ride and few stops made to pick up other passengers, we arrived in Nathon pier where we would take our ferry to Surathani. We were given the ferry ticket and a sticker with our destination written on it eg. mine was Penang.

[ ferry ticket / sticker ]

The ferry to Surathani is really big, bigger than other ferries I took on this trip. Unfortunately I was so tired to take a picture so I spent the time to sleep till reaching Donsak pier, Surathani. From Donsak, we were directed to take a bus, a big one, but it was full. So we waited for another bus about an hour and were dropped at the travel agent in Surathani. Then again, another one hour waiting in the agent, which I used to have a lunch. Then we continued the journey by minivan with few stops made along the way to pick up other passengers, and in souvenir shop and passenger registration in Hatyai. Then an hour later, we arrived in immigration and continued the ride for another 2-3 hours and finally we reached Penang. They dropped us at Banana Guesthouse, opposite to Love Lane, the alley to my guesthouse.

It was really a long journey from Koh Samui to Penang (about 15 hours). Lucky I had friends to talk to along the way but we had to say goodbye that nite cause I had to go back home the next day.

Penang looks like a big city, though in my hostel neighborhood, it looks old town with British/Dutch building nearby. That time was still on Chinese New year celebration. I saw Chinese lampions decorated along Love Lane.

Happy New Year All!! Thanks for reading my blog.

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2012 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

4,329 films were submitted to the 2012 Cannes Film Festival. This blog had 14,000 views in 2012. If each view were a film, this blog would power 3 Film Festivals

Click here to see the complete report.

In addition, let me put in more summary of my 2012 trip.

In 2012, I traveled within Indonesia (Tidung island in north of Jakarta, Karimunjawa island in north of Central Java and ofcourse Bali). I also traveled to overseas (Thailand and Malaysia for island hopping starting from Phuket til Penang).

JANUARY 2012

I traveled solo to Thailand for 10 days visiting some of the islands in southern part of this country: Phuket, Koh Phi Phi, Koh Phangan, Koh Samui then taking a very long road trip to Penang, Malaysia to catch my flight back to home. It was scary thinking I would go to foreign country mostly on solo. But it turned out to be an exciting experience. I got to meet wonderful travelers on the road. What I like about this trip is  hanging out in the beach cafes in Ao Loh Dalam, Koh Phi Phi. What I don’t like is that I lost my money on my last day in Thailand when clubbing in Green Mango, Koh Samui. It’s my first time getting robbed when clubbing.

APRIL 2012

I was back to my second home “Bali” to relieve my ‘homesick’ after 8 months away :D. I went there for 4 days, mostly to enjoy  Kuta and Legian and also to go diving in Tulamben. What I like in this trip is that I met new friends who showed me the places I’d never been before. Ow.. and I got to dive with my friend too. What I don’t like is nothing, I guess. Well, I might be upset knowing that my friend lost her camera at La Vida Loca club in Double Six Legian. First I experienced it in Thailand then saw it it Bali. Fuh..  the clubs are not safe anymore…

Introduction of the Trip

* * *

It was a 10 days travel ~ with 2 countries to visit ~ 5 stops to make ~ and ~ 3 sleepless nights.

E n j o y ! !

* * *

loh dalam bay, koh phi phi[Loh Dalam bay, Koh Phi Phi]

This time, I went for islands hopping within South Thailand and returned to Jakarta from Penang-Malaysia. Dunno if I can call it the islands hopping, but all my stops were in an island :p. The travel involved mostly land/sea transportation.. ferry, minivan, pick-up truck, tuktuk, various kind of buses.. it was so exciting…… tiring but exciting ^^

It’s my first time to Thailand and Penang.. I was very nervous because I would travel there alone. I never thought I would even gor for it… not to Thailand.. I was afraid of the news I heard <people trafficking>, or getting lost cause I dunno their language, or being lonely there… I supposed to travel with my sister but again, she had to cancel due to her work.. Well… it’s one of the consequences of buying ticket couple months prior. Although so, there is a good side of ending up traveling solo. I can go with any kind of itinerary I want, even the craziest one < like this trip ^^ > …. and I never expected that I would have friends to hang out or travel with too.. Apparently I wasn’t alone at all….

ITINERARY & TRIP JOURNAL
include Transportation, Meals and other Expenses

Since it’s gonna be a long post if I put it all here and I don’t like reading a very long post, I divide this trip journal into 6 chapters. Just click the title below for full reading.
