Travelling Angel

Hm.. another journal from 2012 that I haven’t completed. 2012 indeed a very lazy time for me to write :p
but there are some interesting part on this trip that I like and it’d be a waste if I don’t share it.

July 2012

Imo, Seminyak is a high class area in Bali. It’s well-known for its exclusivity .. exclusive clubs, cafes, boutiques, restaurant etc. I was a bit bored with Kuta so this time, I tried to stay here. Turned out, I enjoyed it ^^ It’s kinda remind me of Kemang area in Jakarta.

Day 1 – Saturday

My sister and I flew to Bali using Air Asia and for the second time, the flight delayed for about 30min. Hope it won’t be the same next time I fly with it. We arrived in Bali around 1pm. Bali airport is still under renovation. We had to walk a very long lane to the international terminal to reach the taxi place. I planned to walk until the exit gate to catch my fave Blue Bird taxi  but unfortunately, the route to exit gate has been moved, much more farther that I’d have to take another long walk to reach the public road.  So we tried to find a taxi nearby and luckily there was a Toyota Innova driver who offered us a transfer for Rp.80,000 till our hotel. A bit expensive from Blue Bird taxi but we have no option. Luckily we met our friends on the flight. We planned to meet them in Bali. So we became a group of 4 girls and split the taxi fare to be more affordable ^^

It took about 30 min to reach Fave Hotel Seminyak. It’s located in one of the famous nite entertainment street called Dyana Pura. This street is also known for its gay bars at nite while at noon, there is not much people on the road. Well, at least, much lesser than in Poppies Lane Kuta 😀

The hotel staffs welcomed us friendly. We could check-in soon after we arrived. Good service!! The room is nice too. It’s small but very clean!! Finished with all unpacking things, we started to find motorbike rental. We got it for Rp.50k/day through the hotel staff. Then it’s time to start our agenda that day.

First agenda was to eat at Ultimo Restaurant. After a few wrong turns and getting lost a lot, we found the place. Unfortunately it opened from 5pm so we decided to try Babi Guling Pak Malen (Roasted Pork) in Sunset Road. Again, we got lost but when we found it, it was close only for that day ><” . Geez… we had spent more than one hour wondering around for nothing with an empty stomach ><” We ended up eating Burger King in Sunset Mall, across Babi Guling Pak Malen.

Burger King, Sunset Road
[ burger king ]

Second agenda was to see sunset from Petitengget beach. Last time I visited this beach was 2 years before and it took my mind away. Why? Because there is no many people and surfer there that you can really enjoy seating on the beach, looking at the waves etc. It gave me peace at heart ^^  We were there for about 1.5 hour. It was hot with cold wind breezing. Oh.. I love this beach. The sunset view was beautiful that afternoon

Unexpectedly, we saw a ‘drama’ on the beach. There was this black dog chasing his master who was surfing and it got trap within the wave. Then a girl (a friend of the dog owner) tried to save his dog but she got trapped in the water too. So all Baywatch scene started. A coast guard tried to save the girl, she almost reached the shore but got trapped within the waves again. Then a surfer come rescuing her, putting her in his surf board and pushing it to the shore. Meanwhile the coast guard tried saving the dog. Ow.. That was so awesome!! The surfer was awesome too and very handsome LoL. Lucky her!

We made a stop to buy some supplies in Bintang Supermarket on our way back to hotel. They have a liquor store in the back with affordable price. We bought a small vodka for about Rp60k as a booze before enjoying the nitelife. We planned to go to Ku De Ta and Woobar that usually have most crowds on Saturday. First stop was Woobar and we ended up just going to this bar, which we didn’t regret it. Woobar had a silent party that nite where we danced around while hearing the music through headphone. There were 3 DJs with different kind of musics that we could choose. It’s our first silent party and really awesome. People are actually dancing.. Cool! But like most clubs in Seminyak, they close at 2am. So my friends and I continued it at Double Six clubs ^^ It was a great girls nite out!!

Day 2 – Sunday

The morning was about taking a rest after a long nite out or the coming nite out ^^ But we didn’t wanna miss the free breakfast which was simple but quite tasty. I luv their chicken wings… then back to bed.

Bfast @ Fave Hotel Seminyak

We finally got our head straight around 2pm or maybe our stomach woke us up. We tried to check out Babi Guling Pak Malen again and yes, it was open!! We ordered the complete set and d**n it tasted really good. Not because of starving, but it really tasted that good. I’ve tried Babi Guling/Suckling Pig meal in Ubud (Ibu Oka) and in Denpasar (Pak Chandra) but this Pak Malen’s is the best one among them.

Set Menu, Special Roasted Pork @ Pak Malen

Got our stomach full, we drove to Melasti street to buy some souvenirs. It’s the most affordable place I know to buy clothes . Then headed up to La Planca beach cafe which seems popular that time. You can seat in their big pillow while drinking your cocktail to watch sunset. It was full with people that time and it opens till midnight. Cool!

Then it’s come the time to enjoy the nite. But before that, my sister and I went for a massage in Legian area. It’s about 10min taxi drive from Seminyak but that massage place is the only place we know to get affordable massage. Again back to nitelife, it was an awesome girls nite out in Legian and Doube Six clubs.

Day 3 – Monday

Back to Jakarta with an early flight, which was cancelled and we were shifted to the second flight. Hm…  but no choice, we had to go back to work ^^

{10 Feb 2014}   ☆ Back in Bali
This post has been waiting around in my draft box for more than a year ><“

Have you ever had a post that’s been in your draft box for over a year, waiting to be publish?
I just found one (this post). hpmf…   I forgot why I haven’t published it, such a waste. But rather that I deleted it, I better just publish it. Enjoy!

* * * * *

“ I feel like I haven’t visited this island for years that I decided to have a visit, just a short one
So here I am again, writing a journal of my short visit to Bali.”

 sunset from the stones, kuta

[ Sunset from The Stone beach club, Kuta Beach ]

After long absence, I was back in Bali for the weekend. Somehow it felt wrong for not visiting this Island of God for 8 months. You may wonder why, but I am still wondering myself why… So I went there for a short visit, as usual, because of my limited leave days from work. Plus this time, I made a plan to dive with a friend.

It is a year late journal so I tried to make it simple and emphasize on place-to-eat/hangout/sleep.

For brief expense list, please go to the bottom of this post.

April 2012

Day 1

– Arrived in Bali Airport around noon. Apparently the airport was under renovation that I couldn’t go directly to parking lot. Instead, I walked to International terminal, to the parking lot, then to the exit gate to take Blue Bird to Poppies Lane 2, Kuta. It was a very long walk, 500m I guess. But rather than I pay double taxi fare, I prefer walking this far.

– Check in at Bounty Hotel, Poppies Lane 2. I was asked for deposit about usd100 while I had paid the room in fuul through Agoda. I just complained ant they settled for USD50 deposit.

– Had my lunch at my fave Warung Indonesia in Gg. Ronta, Poppies lane 2.

– Met up with some coworkers late afternoon. They were in Bali to attend a workshop and I joined their afternoon party at The Stone Beachclub in Kuta beach. The sunset view from the rooftop was beautiful that afternoon.

Day 2

– I took a day trip dive to Tulamben with my former diving school, Bali Scuba. They pick me up around 7am and brought me to their office in Sanur for settling the administration. Afterwards we were off to Tulamben, one of the best dive site in northeast part of Bali. It took about 3 hours to reach the site. I think it took longer than my previous trip there.

underwater camera at bali scuba dive shop
[ saw this cool underwater camera at bali scuba shop. i want one!! ]

– My friend joined me in Tulamben and we had 2 awesome dives. First dive was near the wreck and second one near the artificial underwater garden. Then back to Kuta which journey was about the same 3 hours ride, so loooooong.

– Had dinner with my friend at Sushi Tei in Sunset Road, about 15-20min ride by taxi.

– At nite, we spent it exploring the nitelife in Legian (bounty, paddy’s, sky garden) and Double Six (la vida loca). Shockingly my friend lost her camera in La Vida Loca. D**n!! I’ve heard those stories about pick-pocket in Bali clubs but that was the first time happened to the group I went with. Awesome nite soon became a bad one. Hm.. those cute pics or ours were gone 😦
Be careful when you partying there guys!

Day 3

– I woke up late that I missed to taste Bounty Hotel’s breakfast. I didn’t have it the day before due to my early dive. Hm.. will I be able to go back and taste it?? I don’t think I wannna stay there again. The room rate is just too expensive for that kind of old facilities.

– At noon, I check out from Bounty Hotel and moved to Baleka Resort in Legian, the same hotel as my friend.

– I had my lunch at Mozzarella Restaurant in Jalan Padma. It’s near the hotel and one of my fave restaurant. I had a meet-up with Bali couchsurfing members there and spent the rest of the day with them, hanging out in Legian beach watching sunset, check-out La Barca beachcafe in Batubelig and ended the day enjoying clubs in Legian and Double Six. Awesome!

Day 4

– I managed to wake up early and tried Baleka Resort’s breakfast. It tasted good. They served variety of bakery. There were also Indonesian food and my fave breakfast menu, sausage + omelet. That morning was my friend last day in Bali so I said goodbye to her. Sad one. After breakfast, I continued my sleep ^^. So tired…

– I check out Cocoon Beachclub for a friend who was looking a place for her wedding reception and spent my afternoon in Legian beach till sunset time. The place is nice.

– From Legian beach, I walked to Melasti Street to buy souvenir.

– Had my dinner in my fave Warung Indonesia with a friend

– Had a massage in Angelina Spa, Legian street

– Spent the rest of the nite at Legian clubs (surfer bar, expresso bar)

Day 5

– Took the first flight back to Jakarta and straight to work. It was a long but awesome weekend ^^/

Bounty Hotel

It’s located in Poppies Lane 2, 5min walks from Kuta beach. This hotel is suitable for party lover. so if you are not this group, I recommend you to find other place. They have DJ in the main pool, playing club music till night. They also provide free entrance for local guess to Legian clubs (bounty, paddy’s). I booked a double room through and got USD60/nite include breakfast. For further story, please go to my review “My Stay at Bounty Hotel” in my other blog

Baleka Resort

It’s located in Werkudara street, near Double Six area, a 15min walk to Legian beach. I chose this hotel cause I was curious with their swimming pool that looked great on the web. For further story, please go to my review “My Stay at Baleka Resort”in my other blog

bali apr 2012

WOW… time passes quiet fast. It’s already 2014 now and as I wrote in my other blog’s 2013 review, I don’t really travel much in 2013. Increment in fuel price made everything expensive. Before it, I could get the best oneway ticket to Bali for about Rp300k-400k by Garuda, the best airlines in Indonesia. But now it’s like Rp600k. ><”

Talking about the trips I had in 2013, they were all within Indonesia. I traveled to my fave Bali island, then Lombok island (senggigi, gili trawangan) which become my fave destination,  and had short trips to Bandung in West Java.

MARCH 2013

I traveled solo to Bali (kuta) and Lombok (senggigi, gili trawangan) for 3 nites and each nite I stayed in different area. It’s kinda crazy, but hey, I don’t get many leave days from work. So yeah, sometimes I put too much activities on a trip. It’s more like an adventure trip than a relax holiday. However, in this trip, I was more focus on the transport within Lombok as a reference to my next one week trip in August with my family. Read the rest of this entry »

I’ve been to Tidung island in Jakarta,
Karimunjawa island in Central Java
and my fave Bali island

but I have to say that Lombok island is the most beautiful and natural one.

March 2013
Day 1   Jakarta – Bali
Day 2   Bali – Lombok airport – Gili Trawangan
Day 3   Gili Trawangan – Senggigi
Day 4   Senggigi – Lombok airport – Jakarta

Woohoo.. I finally visited Lombok island. I never thought this short trip would be a very nice and enjoyable one. 3 nites trip with 3 places to visit. Never crossed in my mind too that I would see so many amazing scenery. Lombok is a very beautiful island. I am so happy that I didn’t cancel this trip.

Day 1:  Jakarta – Bali

I took an afternoon flight to Bali. It was crowded in the airport, both Jakarta and Bali, probably because of the long weekend/Easter holiday. I arrived in Bali airport around 10pm. I usually just walked to airport gate to catch a Blue Bird Taxi for 25-50% lower fare than airport taxi. But this time I was lucky! I met my long time no see best friend on the plane and she gave me a ride til my hotel in Kuta.

I stayed in Tune Hotel Kuta this time. I want a place that is close from Legian clubs and affordable one. Tune Hotel Kuta has it all (if you booked in advance). I got a promo price for Rp130,000/nite for fan room. When check in, their front officers greeted me very kindly. The room is small but it’s clean. It’s my first time staying there and I had a pretty good first impression.

More about this hotel, please go to My Stay at Tune Hotel Kuta (bali) in my other blog.

Later that nite, I spent the time with my friends in my fave Sky Garden club Legian. The club has just been renovated and became twice bigger with 2 new awesome chill out floors, Shisha lounge and Sky Dome.  Love it!! Just check out their website:

Day 2:  Bali – Lombok airport – Gili Trawangan

Hardly slept, I checked out from hotel early morning to catch the first flight to Lombok island and then going to Gili Trawangan island. I departed from the new domestic area of Ngurah Rai Airport . It’s still under construction, no tile on the floor but I can see that it’ll turn out to be a nice airport once it’s done.

There are 2 ways to go to Gili Trawangan island from Bali, by airplane or by boat, and I took the plane. I chose it because I was worried with the sea condition and I had to be in Lombok as scheduled. It’s my first time taking short distance flight so I was surprise to see how small the aircraft is. I used Wings Air/Lion Air and it has 2-2 seating with only 20 rows, I guess. It was scary thinking that I was gonna be flying in that small aircraft but eventually the flight went well. It’s only a 30min flight anyway.

All info I share here is based on my experience. I’ve been back-and-forth to Bali since 2009, mostly for diving or playing body board or just hangout. My last trip to Bali was in November 2012 and some info are based on my last visit to these places, so some things might have been different from the present. You might also know or find other thing that is better than what’s written here. Anyway if you have the same type and purpose of traveling like mine (backpacker/flashpacker, budget concern, like beach/underwater/party), you might find this info useful for you. Unless, it’s not your reading material.

  •  The area I’ve traveled in Bali
  •  Place to visit / eat / stay / snorkel / dive / hangout
  • Bali beaches

< I’ve spent at least a nite here >

My fave area to stay : Legian and Padang Bai

  • KUTA – Kuta is like the center of everything. This is a very touristic area, some called it crazy, some (me) called it awesome. When hearing Kuta, people immediately think that this is not the best place to stay or it’s too crazy. For me, this area has everything. If you like quite place, no much crazy ‘new’ bikers around, you can choose the southern part of Kuta along Segara beach. If you wanna have good beach for surfing, crazy party, then northern part is your best option along Kuta beach or Bakung Sari street or Benesari street. But if you are a backpacker and ready for all the actions, Poppies lane is your place ;)My fave place in this area is Poppies Lane 2. There are many affordable guesthouses  here surrounded by a great nite life, cheap food and I can walk to my fave beach (Legian beach) .One down side is that most people here respect only foreigners. It’s about 20min drive from airport.> click here for kuta area map
click here for poppies lane 1 map
click here for poppies lane 2 map
  • LEGIAN – Thisarea is more calm than Kuta and sometimes it’s hard to differentiate which one called Legian or Kuta. Well, if you are confuse, the area where lies Padma Street, Werkudara Street and Arjuna/Double Six street is Legian. It’s kind of in the middle of Kuta and Seminyak. For me, if I have enough budget, I will stay in this area whilst in Bali. It’s quieter than Kuta, close to my fave Legian beach, many good restaurant but a bit pricy and I like the environment where the hotel/restaurant staffs respect local tourists too. It’s about 20-25min drive from airport.> click here for legian area map.

This is my trip journal from few months back. It’s just a waste for not sharing this with other travelers.
So finally, I finished it. Hope it would be useful for you, especially for those who want to visit Padang Bai.

July 2011
Day 1   arrival – padang bai
Day 2   padang bai (diving)
Day 3   padang bai – kuta
Day 4   kuta – denpasar – departure

Marco Inn,
Jalan Segara Padang Bai, Bali Ph. 0361-751660

I can say it’s a front beach guesthouse but don’t expect to find a nice beach in front. It’s full with local boats and some garbage. I booked for a twin bed, fan room with breakfast for Rp. 120,000. My room is located in ground floor, right in the corner. There’s hardly sunlight in front of our room and no place to hang my wet clothes. So it’s a little headache for me, thinking where I could  hang my cloth, towel, wetsuit etc. I tried to hang them in a chair, put it on the garden but ended up having their cat slept on it hahaha…. My sister was so pissed.. it’s funny  though I just found it weird that their staffs saw it and did nothing about it. In the morning, there is a nature alarm  (rooster) which felt like living in the country. The air was cold and the water was freezing so  I wish there were hot water. I wish I brought my jacket too. But despite all of the above, I enjoyed my stay there.

Mastapa Garden Hotel,
Jl. Legian No. 139, Kuta Ph. 0361-751660

It is located in the middle of busy Legian street, surrounded by cafes, restaurants, shops, convenient store etc. Good location. They have swimming pool and fantastic garden. I like the garden. I stayed in their standard  room in the 3fl, just right in the corner. The room is clean and big but old. Extremely too expensive for USD 45/nite ( but it was high season.  The twin bedroom is actually a bamboo bed. It’s so weird seeing a springbed on that bamboo. Anyway, I will be back  if I can find a lower/promo rate.

Please refer to my post about “Budget Hotel in Bali” for more hotel review and photo.

  • Denpasar Airport to Padang Bai: Rp.300,000 by APV car, rented from dive center.
  • Padang Bai to Legian: Rp. 250,000 by APV car, rented from dive center.

left-right/top-bottom: No Name Scuba Warung, Warung Jawa, Warung Indonesia, Ayam Bakar Taliwang, my lunch at Warung Indonesia

Warung Jawa
located in front of Padang Bai Police Office, in the entrance gate to the pier.
Taste is not bad. I ordered Tempe Penyet (Tempe rice set), Nasi Campur (Mixed rice), 1 mineral water = Rp.12,000. Very cheap!! Nasi Goreng (fried rice) = Rp. 5,000 (so cheap!!)

Warung Ayam Bakar Taliwang  (forgot the correct name)
located near Warung Jawa.
They sold  Lombok Food. The lombok special Roasted Chicken with rice = Rp.13,000

No Name Scuba Warung
located in Jl Pantai Silayuki.
My friend told me it’s a Chez Restaurant. I ordered the Slice Beef Starganof <good taste> and my sister had a sandwich <bread is hard to bite>. Then we added our order with banana split, ginger tea and hot chocolate. Beside the sandwich, all the food tastes good!!  Total was around Rp.150k-200k

Warung Italia
located in Jl Kunti, Seminyak.
I’ve been reading the review about this restaurant for a year and finally I could have a taste of it. We went there on Saturday night, the place was so crowded that there were people queuing including us. However there was this Italian Guy, probably the manager, who was kind enough to find us a seat and for other guests too. While the waiters, they ignored us completely.
Anyway, we ordered their house special pizza (forgot the name and it’s delicious), salad (best one ever), spaghetti carbonara with bacon (extremely salty , didn’t finish it) and some drinks.  We spent about Rp.150k-200k.

Warung  Indonesia
located in Gang Ronta, Poppies Lane, Kuta. Cannot miss eating at this cheap local restaurant with a good taste of Indonesian food.
I ordered my usual menu: tempe, sweetsour chicken, potato with sambal, capcay veggies and rice for Rp.14,000.

  • Deja Vous Club at Double Six:  Heineken beer = Rp.30,000

It supposed to be a one week trip. Got a really good ticket price from airasia <a year ago>. Too bad I had work to do so couldn’t travel around as planned. I missed going to Nusa Lembongan Island… again.. but I am happy I finally did diving in Padang Bai.

Day 1:  arrival – Padang Bai

Our 10am flight was delay for 2 freaking hours. It ‘s the first time I had this very long delay using Air Asia. They gave us drink and Jco donut but our plan that day got messed up. I missed visiting Bloo Lagoon Beach. I always wanted to go there. It was one of the must-see-place in our list (mine actually) because I am curious with all the review I heard. In the other hand, our driver has been waiting in Bali Airport since our supposed-to-depart time. He waited for us for 4-5 hours. Poor him. Plus.. actually my sister almost didn’t make it but I was  glad she could settle her issue that morning. …. hm..the trip didn’t start so well..

view from the sky, above Java island

We arrived in Bali around 15:30 and went straight to Padang Bai. It was about 2.5 hours, a long drive. plus we were starving to death. We stopped in a minimart to buy some snacks though.

Slowly the view changed from buildings with many people and traffic to be less people and became the view of mountain and plants.. green everywhere.. made me feel at peace, forgetting all my problems and hectic that day ^^

I decided to go to Padang bai this time to see its awesome underwater I heard. Christian, the owner of Blue Bubble Bali DC (dive center), greeted us when we arrived there. He showed us our guesthouse, which was only few feet away from his dive center. His dive center is small. Well, I guess not many big DC there since it’s a small city. Although I heard the underwater is great.

How about our guesthouse?
Well, it’s a small place, just in front of the beach <but not really tourist type of beach>. I need to passed a small alley to get into this guesthouse, Marco Inn, kinda give it a feeling of hidden place. The lady greeted us nicely and showed us our room in the corner.

We put our stuffs and started our first hunt for the thing we most craved for that time..  that would be a decent food as our late lunch and early dinner. I tried to contact some friends of mine who were there for diving too. Thinking they might be able to give some recommendation for restaurant. But my mobile seemed having no signal there.. It really pissed me off after the whole delay thing combined with hunger etc..  Lucky I brought my other mobile operator (telkomsel) which could work there. I finally could contact a friend, got some good resto info and we chose to taste the local food.

We went to the street in front of the pier entrance. There are some warung (local restaurant). I was attracted with Warung Jawa (Javanese Food stall). Actually I don’t really like the real Bali local food cause there is this specific spice “kencur” that makes the taste so not-for-my-tongue. So I am glad there is this Warung with Javanese taste. Its price is so cheap too. After having dinner, we went back to our room to clean up and damn.. the water was ice cold, but we had to clean up.

Later that nite, we spent it hanging out with some friends at Buddha Bar in Padang Bai Beach Resort. It was all about diving talk. A great talk   Well, the night was ended by us walking down the street, back to our guesthouse, with the sky full of stars.  Something I couldn’t see in the city.

Day 2:  Padang Bai

Our day started great = I woke up quite early  .
Sometimes I wonder why I always wake up so early during vacation. I wish I could do the same when I am not in holiday. LoL.. Anyway, I think I woke up early that day because my bed was not comfortable. It felt like there was a hole in it. There were also sounds of birds chipping and boat whistle, feeling like living in the countryside and like the nature ‘alarm’.

sunrise from the beach in front of Marco Inn guesthouse

Since I couldn’t sleep again, I went to see the sunrise from the beach in front of Marco Inn. It was beautiful. There were many local people there or maybe the boat owner or fishermen. The beach was  full with the boats…… and garbage. Too bad for a white sandy beach.

  • Diving & Snorkeling Trip

After breakfast <I love their banana pancake. Their toast  is also good>, we started preparing our equipment for diving and snorkeling. My sister was so nervous because that was her first time snorkeling in a less crowded ocean. She even became more nervous when she found out that no guide accompanied her snorkeling. It seemed there was misinformation from Christian. While me, feeling so lucky coz it is not allowed to dive alone LoL.. Plus I was accompanied by a divemaster who turned out to be from Switzerland and a very handsome one hahaha…Anyway, the dives went great. I had 2 dives, one at Jepun site, the other one at Bloo Lagoon. I can see Bloo Lagoon beach from the boat and I thanked God  for my flight delay so I didn’t have to go to that ‘regular’ and ‘less sandy’ beach. The highlight of my dives would be seeing 3 white tip sharks, one is pregnant (I was hoping not to see them actually. scared & nervous) and orange bat fish and green star fish. I have seen blue and red starfish in Menjangan and Tulamben and it is my first time to see the green one. I wonder how many color the starfish has. In the other part, the snorkeling also went great, I guess. Well, she seemed tense and a little bit sea sick, plus the water was so cold that she didn’t snorkel very long. But from her story, I could tell that she was very excited to be able to see colorful marine life there. It is a good sign for me ^^/ why? Because if she likes the marine life, there is a chance she will try diving.  Then maybe taking the license so I will have a dive buddy hihihi..who knows? The dives and snorkeling finished around 14:00. I realized somehow there was no lunch for us?!?! As a regular diving package is.   But Thomas, the divemaster, burned me the photo he took underwater into a CD for free. It is the first underwater pictures with me on it. So my upset’s just gone instantly. Well, first agenda has completed. Next, we went for restaurant hunting again cause we were starving to death .. again..  We tried the Lombok local food this time. We had “Ayam bakar Taliwan’ (roasted chicken) with some veggies and sambal and ofcourse rice. The chicken was so hard to bite, but we were so hungry so just tried to fill it up with anything in front of us.
  • Try Scuba Diving in the Pool
In the afternoon, we went to Absolute Scuba Dive Center  for my sister lesson to experience scuba. She was again so nervous that earlier she asked to cancel it. I said it was ridiculous cause the lesson was only in the swimming pool. Althuogh I bet she dragged herself to that pool that day hahaha..
Well, after a few set up and briefing, she was finally in the water with a scuba equipment. Her instructor was very patient teaching her. She looked relax.I took some shots while she was underwater. It looked like a big fish from above hahaha…
I really enjoyed making fun of her <hope she’s not reading this>. Anyway, the lesson took about an hour and ended up with a conclusion that she wanted to try the ocean dive.. Yeah.. mission accomplished < first step of becoming my future dive buddy LoL>.
  • Getting lost in the Woods
My sister lesson ended up around 4pm. I actually had one other agenda to check quickly on Bias Tugal Beach. I got info from Thomas that this beach was nice, way better than Bloo Lagoon. So I wanted to check there but my sister wanted to go back to the room. I, then, decided to go there alone. I heard it was only 10-15min walk from our guesthouse. On my way, I met with my sister’s dive instructor. He was going to the same direction with motorbike and offered me a lift. I just jumped in, thought that it would be faster.  But somehow the motor ride took longer route than it should be. He said there was another entrance from uphill. I didn’t know so I just followed his advice.
It turned out to be my worst decision ever. It was almost 5pm, almost dark, and the other entrance was a small path in the jungle. I only saw tress, bushes, cliff and the red soil path. I met a couple but they were going to different direction. I kept walking and walking but it was still up in the hill. I could see the beach from there but it was so in the distance. After few minutes walking, I wanted to go back but I couldn’t see the right path. So I kept walking, speed up my pace.. I kept praying in my heart for His guidance to the correct path.
After about 30min, I finally could see the beach in distance and it was getting closer and closer .. and I finally felt its sand on my feet. I felt relieved. I was still afraid because none was there and I didn’t really know how to get back. I took some time  to cool my head first before finding the short path back. I took some shots there to calm myself.
Then I tried to go back, taking the other direction path. Almost took the wrong turn.. Oh God, there was none there… Plus there are many empty storages and houses, giving it a more spooky vibe. Thanks God a few minutes later I could see from uphill, the big street back to the pier. But my worry didn’t stop there. There was this local guy standing down the hill, on the entrance to the street. He was looking at me with sickles in his hand. Oh My God, I was so scared. He said something and I just replied ‘Halo’ then speed up my pace again.. almost running..

the woods where I almost get lost

You have no idea how happy I was to find myself back in my room, even with extremely sore legs. I told this story to my sister. She laughed at me and said that was my fault for not listening to her.

That night was ended up by playing games and chatting in the internet café and having a nice dinner at a Chez restaurant called “No Name Scuba Warung”.  The dinner was delicious <for me>.

Overall, this day was exciting and really took all my energy.

Day 3:   Padang Bai – Legian

We went to Bias Tugel Beach to see the Sunrise in early morning.

It was 6 o’clock and none in the beach. It was a bit drizzling but it went away fast.

We took some pictures, stayed there for a while until it was time to pack up and prepare ourselves to go to our favorite place in Bali….

“There is no holiday in Bali without Kuta/Legian
I think this is the motto of my sisters and I when visiting Bali. Although some people said that Kuta is crazy, but for us, it’s the most fun place. Why?   Well, the sunset is beautiful. The place is crowded (we / I don’t really like quiet place). many cheap places to stay.. we know the cheap places to eat.. many cute guys to see LoL..  it’s like the center of everything .. many options to enjoy as a closure to our holiday  ^^/

It took about 2 hours to reach Kuta from Padang Bai. We stayed at Mastapa Garden Hotel in Legian Street. Our first stop after check-in was our fave place for massage, Angeline Spa, near our hotel. Then we headed to Kuta beach to watch sunset. We were so blessed that day to be able to enjoy sunrise and sunset in the same day. We took the longer road back to our hotel (through Benesari Street). I glanced at many new restaurants and hangout places in Kuta Beach street. I haven’t noticed it from my previous visit, a month before. I think Kuta beach will turn out to be surrounded by commercial places soon. It’s getting crowded and more traffic each time.

For dinner, we chose to have it in a little exclusive area, Seminyak.

It’s about 5min drive from our hotel.. well, not really 5min if you took taxi in front of the hotel. Legian Stree is  the most crowded street at night. <cause same street with the clubs> So we took a little walk to the interception/opposite direction with the club and waited in front of Bank BNI. It is hardly crowded there. We had our dinner in Warung Itali, which according to the review, they have good pizza. Later then, I also had the same impression :0 Their pizza is delicious, their salad too. But their spaghetti carbonara was extremely salty, don’t know why.

On our way back to hotel, we saw other Warung Made restaurant chain in Seminyak. It is bigger than the one near Hard Rock Kuta and has a live music (traditional music play). Next trip, I would love to try eating there.

Then last, we spent our “Saturday Night” enjoying the music and dancing in the clubs at Legian and Double Six. It was really a fun ‘girls’ night out’.

Day 4:  Legian – departure

Feeling so don’t wanna go home ^^

It’s the last day of our trip. I started my day early. My sister was still crashing in the bed, so I went for breakfast alone. The restaurant in Mastapa Garden Hotel is very traditional. There is a scent of Balinese wood/art and it faces the garden and swimming pool. Looks so at peace there. Too bad the service doesn’t balance with it. The staff didn’t smile at me at all. It looked like she was forced to serve me. Good thing that the breakfast was very good. I tried their American Breakfast in a big enough portion.

Then it’s time to try the pool. There was only 1 guest there, laying in the bench near the pool. My head was still having a bad headache but I forced myself to get into the water. Hoping it would wipe out all my hangover. But when I entered it, I instantly screamed (in my head) “OMG! The water is as cold as Padang Bai “. It was so freezing that I only swam a few rounds then decided to go back to my room. What a waste! The pool is really nice!!

When I got back , I started to pack up my stuffs. My sister had awaken <good!>. Our flight was 4pm but we should check out before 12 to have some lunch in our fave place, Warung Indonesia, in poppies lane 2. We also had to take the Pie Susu (Milk cream pie)  which was quite popular as Bali snack <we love it!> in Toko Bahagia, Denpasar.

So we checked out around 11am, left our baggage in the hotel then went to poppies lane 2, passing the legian street, entering the alley across the Bomb Monument to poppies lane 2 then taking Ronta alley, and there it is, our fave restaurant ever!! <coz it’s cheap and taste good> I ordered the spicy potato, sweetsour chicken and some capcay/veggie, I think my sister had the same. We ate there till about 12:30pm.

Then I had the feeling to see Kuta beach before leaving which meant taking another long route back to hotel. Soon later we found ourselves in the white sandy beach, attracted by a surfing competition. It was our first time watching a surfing competition LoL..

We forgot our tight schedule to Denpasar, thought it would be fast to go there from Kuta on our way to the airport. It turned out to be wrong. The traffic was bad. I had thought we would miss our flight in this high season, which hard to find cheap ticket back. But then calming myself, thinking that we still had our other ticket <ticket for a week holiday>. But still, I had to go back that day. Well, we managed to be at airport 45 minutes before departure, wanted to check in but none there. We had done mobile check-in but we needed to drop our baggage. So I made some searching around and  running..   It was all sorted out soon later and we could get to the lounge. We wanted to sit there to take a breath and buy souvenirs… but then, we were called for boarding.

Well, some things didn’t go as planned on this trip, but considering that we found a beautiful secluded beach, it was all worth it.

Truth to say, I love my stay in Padang Bai for diving. Somehow I like its atmosphere than staying in Sanur or Candidasa during diving trip. So I will definitely be back if I wanna dive there or in Tulamben area. Plus staying a night in the crazy Kuta/Legian area for sure. This place I can’t miss. But I will reconsider for going there in June – July.
